TEMPLE, Texas – Temple College Baseball gets the weekend series win over Howard College.

After a tough loss in Game 1 the Leopards looked to respond in Game 2 on Saturday to pick up the weekend series win over Howard College.

Freshman LHP Dash Albus got the nod to start in Game 2 and bought time for the offense to find a way to scratch a couple of runs late as he went 5 innings striking out 7 batters, and only allowed 1 run on 2 hits. In the 6^th inning Freshman infielder Raithen Malone got things started with a HBP and later tied the game up after a pinch hit, 2 strike single by Sophomore Clark Henry. Sophomore Mason Bryant took the mound next for the Leopards and held the Hawks offense to 1 hit through his 2 innings of work. Bryant eventually received the win after Hogan Heller led off the bottom of the 7^th inning with a double to right field. Freshman Dawson French came in to pinch run for Heller and after reaching 3^rd base by Zane Spinn's bunt single, French crossed the plate as the winning run after Howard's LHP balked to end the game.

Temple will play a doubleheader against Howard College tomorrow Saturday February 19th in Temple, Texas.

On today's win…

After losing the first game of the doubleheader, as coaches all we can ask of our players is to be able to turn the page quickly and begin focusing on finding a way to win the next game. While our offense struggled to get things going, Albus and Bryant did a really good job on the mound keeping the game close to allow us to have a chance at the end. Clark Henry and Hogan Heller had some timely hits that allowed us to win the game late. It is always good to win a series, especially over a team in our region who we will have a good chance of playing come playoff time.

On today's performance...

I was happy that Coach McMurtry had the confidence to put me in a situation to help the team after Dash Albus had a good start keeping it a one run game headed into the 6^th inning. I was excited to see the scrappiness of our team come together and do whatever it takes to pick up a win.
