Baseball Splits Doubleheader with Blinn College

TEMPLE, Texas the Temple College baseball splits Monday's non-conference doubleheader with Blinn College. Another extra inning thriller in game 1 gave the Leopards their 15th win of the season. However, they came up short in game 2 by a score of 12-10.

Game One Recap

Temple defeated Blinn College 5-4 in game 1 on Monday thanks to a walk-off single. The game was tied at four with the Leopards batting in the bottom of the ninth when Hogan Heller singled on a 3-1 count, scoring one run.

Temple opened up scoring in the second inning. Colson Geisler threw a wild pitch allowing one run across the plate for Temple College.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, the Leopards tied things up at four when Travis Chestnut singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.

Hagen Rose was the winning pitcher for Temple. The righthander surrendered zero runs on one hit over one inning, walking zero. Mason Bryant and Dawson Tourney entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.

Hudson Luce started the game for the Leopards Varsity. The lefty lasted three innings, allowing two hits and two runs while striking out two.

Game Two Recap
Temple College's effort to come back from down five runs in the seventh inning came up just short, as they fell 12-10 to the Bucs of Blinn College. The Leopards scored three runs on a home run in the seventh inning by Colby Christian.

Temple got on the board in the second inning when Joseph Redfield doubled on a 2-2 count, scoring three runs. Blinn scored four runs in the seventh inning. David Stich took the loss for Temple College. The righthander allowed one hit and four runs over two-thirds of an inning, striking out one. Cole Van Poppel started the game for the Leopards. The righty went four innings, allowing one run on four hits and striking out two. The Temple offense totaled 12 hits. ChristianRedfield, and Caleb Hill all managed multiple hits. Christian went 4-for-5 at the plate as he hit for the cycle, thrid time in Temple history (first since 2006), to lead the Leopards in hits.

Temple will play against Navarro College Monday March 21st in Temple, Texas.

On today's doubleheader…

There are positives to take away from today's doubleheader, but we are still far from being where we need/want to be. We have a talented group, but things aren't clicking the way they should. There's no magical fix to things, the guys just need to continue coming to practice with good focus and lots of hard work.
