The Temple College Leopards baseball team will hit the Danny Scott Athletic Complex running on Wednesday afternoon as they will host Wharton County Junior College in a cross-regional battle.
First pitch is slated for 2 pm.
Temple, in Region V, is 1-3 so far this season and has only faced one team: No. 1 Blinn College.
On Jan. 25, the Buccaneers swept the Leopards 19-9 and 4-3. Last weekend, the Leopards won the first game, 2-0, before falling to the Bucs in game two, 5-0.
Their doubleheader with Odessa College was cancelled due to rain and poor field conditions.
The Leopards 3 ½ runs per game this season and are hitting .234.
Andrew Ermis leads the Leopards with a .455 batting average and .538 on-base percentage. He has hit one homer and driven in four runs so far.
Lance Cantrell leads the team in hits with six and is tied with Ermis with three runs scored. Brayden Simmons leads the Leopards, having crossed the plate four times.
Located in Region 14, Wharton is 4-3 so far in 2025. They split with Odessa College (won 2-1, lost 10-0), defeated Baton Rouge Community College (4-1), and took two out of three from Angelina College (won 1-0 and 9-7, lost 12-1).
The Pioneers are hitting .170 on the season with an on-base percentage of .315 with one homer and 14 runs batted in and have scored 18 times on 30 hits.
WCJC has a staff earned run average of 5.09, with 65 strikeouts and 24 walks, while teams hit .302 against the Pioneers.
The game will be Temple's last home game until a seven-game homestand which starts on Friday, Feb. 21. The Leopards start a six-game road trip by taking on Angelina College in a Saturday doubleheader in Lufkin.
