The Temple College baseball team will start a six-game road trip on Saturday with a doubleheader against the Angelina College Roadrunners.
Gametimes are slated for 1pm and 3:30pm.
The Leopards are coming off an 11-1, seven-inning win against Wharton County Junior College on Wednesday at the Danny Scott Athletic Complex. TC drew six bases-loaded walks in the game, which included three straight during a seven-run first inning. Brayden Simmons batted in four runs, Rhyder Rutledge had three runs batted in, and Sage Sanders drew four walks and scored three times.
Tobin Eschief picked up the win on the hill, scattering five hits in six innings and struck out six.
The Leopards (2-3) are hitting .231 through five games, with two homers and 24 runs batted in. TC has an on-base percentage of .373, with 31 hits, 25 walks, and six hit batsmen.
Lance Cantrell (.412 batting average, four runs scored, two RBI) leads the Leopards in batting average. Simmons (.385 BA, .550 OBP, five runs scored, four RBI) leads the team in on-base percentage, and shares the RBI lead with Andrew Ermis (.357 BA, .471 OBP).
Temple pared down their earned run average after their win on Wednesday to 5.80 in 35.2 innings, having struck out 45 batters and walked 23 for a near 2-to-1 strikeout-to-walk ratio.
Patrick Collopy has 12 strikeouts in six innings of relief, and Eschief has struck out ten batters over two starts.
Angelina College comes into action on Saturday with 3-4 mark, having swept Galveston College (3-2 and 8-7), going 1-3 against Wharton (lost 1-0, win 12-1, lost 9-7), and swept in a doubleheader by Alvin Community College (7-5 and 5-2).
The Roadrunners have batted .277 through seven games and have an on-base percentage of .376, with five home runs and 29 runs batted in.
Jacob Tanguma and Ashton Wagner are both hitting .500 with six hits and four runs scored to lead the Roadrunners offense.
Angelina's pitching staff has a 3.26 earned run average in 38.2 innings pitched, having allowed 14 earned runs (20 total) on 30 hits, walked 22 and struck out 42.
