Baseball heads to Alvin for doubleheader against ACC

Baseball heads to Alvin for doubleheader against ACC

The Temple College will face the Alvin Community College Dolphins in doubleheader action at Phillips Baseball Field Friday afternoon in Alvin.

Doubleheader start times are slated for 1 pm and 3:30 pm. Updates to the game can be found on Temple College Baseball's page on the Gamechanger application.

The Leopards return to action after having their game against Navarro College in Corsicana on Tuesday.

As a team, Temple (3-4) is hitting .240, has a on-base percentage of .384, and a slugging percentage of .317 with two home runs, 33 runs batted in, 37 runs scored and 44 hits.

Leadoff batter Brayden Simmons leads the Leopards in batting average (.471), runs batted in (7), is tied for first in on-base percentage (.609), hits (8), and walks (6).

Temple's pitching staff has a 6.10 earned run average through seven contests, has allowed 39 runs (33 earned) on 60 hits, walked 31, and struck out 58.

Patrick Collopy leads the team in innings pitched (10 2/3) and strikeouts (17).

Collopy, Tobin Eschief, Eric Tenery, and Kade Davis have combined for the seven Leopards starts on the hill.

Alvin (7-3) has a team batting average of .271, on-base percentage of .377, and slugging percentage of .384. The Dolphins have hit four homers, driven home 56 runs, and scored 59 times on 77 hits.

Alex Guejardo leads the Dolphins in batting average (.522), on-base percentage (.577), hits (12), runs batted in (7), triples (2), and is second on the teams in runs scored with eight.

Alvin's earned run average is an impressive 3.24 through ten games, with the opposition scoring 37 runs (27 earned) against them. In 75 innings, the Dolphins struck out 85 and walked 47.

Carlos Garza and Tyler Ryden have combined to pitch 28 of the Dolphins' 75 innings pitched, having struck out a combined 34 batters.

Following Friday's doubleheader, the Leopards will complete five-game road trip with a Tuesday game at Wharton County Junior College. Temple starts an eight-game homestand on Feb. 21 against Alvin.
