TC Baseball hosts No. 5 MCC in conference action

The Temple College baseball team will host No. 5 McLennan in a North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference doubleheader on Saturday at the Danny Scott Athletic Conference.

First pitch times are slated for 12 pm and 3 pm.

The Leopards are 9-10 on the season and 2-0 in conference play following a doubleheader sweep of the Highlanders on Wednesday at Bosque River Ballpark. Scores of the twin-bill were 5-4 and 6-5.

Temple is hitting .261 through 19 games, reaching base at a .384 clip, with 13 home runs, 93 runs batted in, 103 runs scored, 137 hits, 25 doubles, 84 walks, 34 bases stolen on 37 attempts, and have been hit by pitches 25 times.

Lance Cantrell (.391 BA, .474 OBP, HR, 16 RBI), Ryder Rutledge (.370 BA, .491 OBP, 2 HR, 8 RBI), and Andrew Ermis (.367 BA, .530 OBP, 2 HR, 11 RBI, 10 HBP) all have four doubles to lead the team. Kolvin Davis leads the team with three homers, and Brayden Simmons has the team lead in walks with 13.

The Leopards pitching staff earned run average is 5.59, with 82 earned runs allowed (102 total) on 142 hits, having struck out 146 batters and walked 82.

Patrick Collopy got the game one start on Wednesday, allowed three runs (two earned) on two hits, struck out seven and walked three in 5 1/3 innings pitched. Micah Melott picked up the save in game one.

Eric Tenery pitched well in the game two start, having allowed two hits, six walks, and four strikeouts in 6 2/3 innings.

MCC is hitting .286 on the season, with a .431 on-base percentage. The Highlanders have hit 18 homers, driven in 117 runs, have scored 130 times on 130 hits, 30 doubles, seven triples, 94 walks, been hit by 28 pitched and stolen 23 bases on 29 attempts.

Cage McCloud (.354 BA, .508 OBP, 2 HR, 16 RBI, 4 2B, 11 walks), Daniel Harden (.327 BA, .453 OBP, 3 HR, 8 RBI, 9 walks), Deiten LaChance (.310 BA, .369 OBP, 2 HR, 15 RBI), and Ty Waid (.294 BA, .391 OBP, 3 HR, 18 RBI, 9 walks) are a few of the offensive weapons for the Highlanders.

McLennan's staff earned run average is 5.05, allowing 52 earned runs (69 total) on 120 hits. The Highlanders struck out 147 batters and walked 52.
