TC Baseball goes for series win against NCTC in Gainesville on Saturday

The Temple College baseball team is coming off their second Northern Texas Junior College Athletic doubleheader on Wednesday against North Texas Junior College and is looking to win the series with a rematch against the Lions on Saturday in Gainesville.

Doubleheader game times are 12 pm and 2:30 pm.

The Leopards starting pitchers combined for 13 innings of shutout baseball, and the relief staff contributed two innings a shutout ball to blank the Lions, 10-0 and 5-0.

Patrick Collopy pitched a six-inning perfect game, striking out ten of 18 batters in game one, and Eric Tenery scattered three hits over seven innings in game two. Gavin Oliver allowed four hits in two innings.

Through 31 games, Temple is hitting .276 with an on-base percentage of .400. The Leopards have hit 23 home runs, 164 runs batted in, scored 182 runs, 236 hits, 48 doubles, one triple, 72 extra-base hits, 355 total bases, 147 walks, 38 hit by pitches, and have stolen 51 bases on 57 tries.

The Leopards dropped their earned run average with their doubleheader shutout from 7.33 to 6.82. TC has allowed 163 earned runs (206 total) on 252 hits, struck out 216 and walked 143.

Through 31 games, NCTC is hitting .252 with an on-base percentage of .350. The Lions have hit 29 home runs, driven home 127 runs, scored 150 times, 26 doubles, ten triples, 354 total bases, 106 walks, have been hit 29 times, and have stolen 21 stolen bases on 27 attempts.

The Leopards will have the conference bye next week, and will have a three-game series with the Navarro College Bulldogs on Tuesday and Friday.
