Temple College baseball returns to conference play at Cisco College on Wednesday

The Temple College baseball team heads back into Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference action on Wednesday with a westward road trip to Cisco College.

Doubleheader times at Wrangler Field are 12 pm and 2:30 pm.

The teams split the four-game series in 2024, having won a game at each other's home fields. Temple won by scores of 6-2 and 9-0, and Cisco won by scores of 3-1 and 10-4.

Temple (16-19 overall, 7-9 NTJCAC) has hit .269 through 35 games, with an on-base percentage of .397 and slugging percentage of .398.

The Leopards have scored 201 runs on 266 hits, 52 doubles, three triples, 23 home runs, 179 runs batted in, 393 total bases, 174 walks, 44 hit by pitches, 12 sacrifice flies, 10 sacrifice hits, and 57 stolen bases on 64 attempts.

Kade Davis (.378 BA, .443 OBP, 3 HR, 26 RBI), Lance Cantrell (.333 BA, .451 OBP, 2 HR, 24 RBI, 23 walks), and Andrew Ermis (.326 BA, .508 OBP, 6 HR, 24 RBI) are amongst the offensive leaders for the Leopards.

TC's pitching staff has an earned run average of 6.18, with four complete games, four shutouts, and five saves. The Leopards have allowed 172 earned runs (221 total runs) on 274 hits, have walked 172 batters, hit 40 batters, and struck out 248 in 250 2/3 innings.

Patrick Collopy (5-1, 2.76 ERA, 59 strikeouts, 18 walks), Eric Tenery (4-2, 3.60 ERA, 32 strikeouts, 23 walks), Kade Davis (3-4, 8.07 ERA, 23 strikeouts, 23 walks), and Tobin Eschief (3-5, 4.63 ERA, 50 strikeouts, 24 walks) are in the starting rotation for the Leopards.

Cisco (25-14 overall, 10-10 NTJCAC) has hit .329 through 39 games with an on-base percentage of .443 and slugging percentage of .525. The Wranglers have scored 314 runs on 364 hits, 74 doubles, 18 triples, 36 homers, 276 runs batted in, 582 total bases, 183 walks, 57 hit by pitches, 14 sacrifice flies, and 41 stolen bases on 51 attempts.

Andy Chapa (.389 BA, .431 OBP, 6 HR, 38 RBI), Preston Freeman (.389 BA, .451 OBP, 3 HR, 35 RBI), Ryan Alaniz (.367 BA, .561 OBP, 16 RBI, 31 walks), and Jackson Illingsworth (.352 BA, .489 OBP, 5 HR, 29 RBI) are amongst the offensive leaders for the Wranglers.

The Wranglers' staff ERA is 6.44, with one complete game and three shutouts. Cisco has allowed 195 earned runs (240 total runs), on 298 hits, has walked 164 batters, hit 39 batters, and struck out 311.

Cisco's pen has a wealth of starters and relievers that have dual roles.

The series is pivotal for both teams. Temple sits in sixth place in the conference, two games behind Cisco with four games in hand on the Wranglers. The Leopards trail Vernon by two games for the final playoff spot. Cisco's conference bye week is next week.
