TC Baseball splits at Ranger College

The Temple College Leopards completed their four-game series against the Ranger College Rangers on Saturday afternoon at Ellis Burks Field in Ranger.

The Leopards had another big offensive game to start the doubleheader but dropped the back end of it.

Scores of the twin-bill favored Temple in game one, 9-0, and Ranger took game two, 10-1. Both games were played in seven innings.

In game one, the Leopards scored once in the first, twice in the second and sixth innings, and four times in the seventh.

Hunter Baros and Peanut Brazzle crushed homers for the Leopards. Baros went 2-for-4 with three RBI and three runs scored, Sage Sanders contributed two hits and an RBI, and Brayden Simmonds added two RBI.

Kade Davis picked up the complete game win, struck out 13 and allowed two hits over seven innings.

Jayden Brown and Michael Lozano picked up the hits for the Rangers.

Clint Burkey picked up the loss, having allowed nine runs (four earned) on nine hits, struck out five and walked two.

In the second game, Ranger built a 5-0 lead over the first three innings before an RBI single by Baros broke up the shutout in the top of the fourth.

The Rangers scored three times in the fifth and twice in the sixth to cap the scoring.
Thomas Barnhart hit two homers and drove home four runs, Reid Richard had three RBI, and Brown had two hits and an RBI.

Anthony Kelley took the win for Ranger, allowed one runs on three hits, struck out four and walked two in six innings. Eli Heyen pitched an inning in relief, walked one and struck out one.

Baros, Andrew Ermis, and Lance Cantrell had hits for the Leopards.

Kennett McLane took the loss for Temple. McLane pitched two innings, allowed four runs on five hits, struck out three and walked one. The bullpen pitched four innings, allowed six runs (five earned) on four hits, walked four and struck out three.

Temple will play its last NTJCAC series of the season against Hill College, starting with a Wednesday doubleheader at the Danny Scott Sports Complex.
