TC Baseball drops pair at Hill College

The Temple College Leopards baseball squad concluded their season on Saturday with a doubleheader in Hillsboro against Hill College.

Hill was able to post late inning rallies against the Leopards, as they won twice in walk-off fashion, having won 10-9 and 14-6 (eight innings).

Both TC and Hill ended their seasons, as the Rebels ended their season at 13-19 in conference and 29-25 overall, while Temple finished 12-20 in conference and 22-30 overall.

Down 5-2 in game one, Temple rallied to score six times in the fifth to give the Leopards a 7-5 lead.

The Rebels scored once in the fifth and twice in the sixth to tie the game at 8-7 advantage.

TC scored twice in the seventh to go up by a run. However, the Rebels scored twice in the bottom of the inning to secure the win.

The Rebels hit five homers in the game.

Kade Davis and Sage Sanders each drove in two runs. Davis, Ryder Rutledge, and Andrew Ermis each had two hits, and Brayden Simmons homered, drove in a run, scored twice and walked twice.

Davis pitched five innings but did not factor in the decision. He allowed six runs on five hits, struck out three, hit a batter and walked two. Mason Gerrard pitched an inning of relief, allowed two runs on three hits, struck out one, and walked one. Gabe Gutierrez picked up the loss, pitched 1/3 inning, allowed two runs on one hit, and walked one.

After trailing 2-0 early in game two, Temple scored three times in the third, twice in the fifth and once in the sixth to take a 6-3 lead.

The Rebels scored twice in the sixth, eight times in the seventh, and once in the eighth to clinch the win in run-rule fashion.

Rutledge and Ermis each drove in two runs, and Sanders and Kadyn Martinez had two hits apiece.

Bralen Veazey pitched two innings, allowed two runs on two hits, struck out three and walked two. The TC bullpen combined to pitch 4 1/3 innings, allowed 12 runs on 11 hits, walked 12, hit three batters, and struck out four.

The doubleheader was the final Temple College games for sophomores Andrew Ermis, Lance Cantrell, Patrick CollopyTanner Jackson, Eric Tenery, Louis Alonso, Gabe Gutierrez, Brayden Simmons, Kolvin Davis, and Wade Denton.
