The Temple College Leopards men's basketball hosted Strength 'N Motion Internation on Wednesday at Kirby Johnson Court in preparation for a pair of weekend tournament games.
Strength 'N Motion hung around for the first 17 minutes of the contest before Temple strung together a 20-0 run that started with 3:04 to play in the first half and went four-and-a-half minutes into the second half, as the Leopards were able to flex their bench in a 92-61 win.
SNMI cruised out to a 7-1 lead early, and took advantage of some early game free-throw struggles by the Leopards.
TC grabbed a 14-13 lead with 11:15 to go in the first half, their first of the game, when Jaymes Brown-Peterson's alley-oop pass was flushed through the cylinder by Logan Myers.
The game was close at the final media timeout of the first half, as SNMI led with 3:04 to play, 31-30.
The Leopards forced multiple turnovers, and deposited loose balls into the basket, as they closed the half on a 10-0 run and led at the break, 41-31.
Temple scored the first ten points of the second half, and outscored SNMI at one juncture in the second half, 31-2. The Leopards led with 11:50 to play, 69-38.
SNMI was able to pull to within 25 points down the stretch, but Temple was able to hold the margin at 31 at the finish.
All 15 Leopards that suited up saw action in the contest, with 13 having scored. Myers and Josh Telfort each scored 12 points, and Brown-Peterson and Roy Gardner scored nine points. TC struggled in the first half from the free-throw line, having converted 6-of-19 attempts. They finished 9-of-24.
Joseph Wilson and Milton Kaphne led SNMI with 12 points each, and Pablo Francis added 11. SNMI converted 8-of-12 free throws.
Temple College (4-2) will travel to Levelland on Friday to play at the Texan Classic. On Friday, TC will play No. 17 South Plains College (5-2) at 7:15 p.m. On Saturday, the Leopards will play No. 22 Frank Phillips College at noon.
