Leopards take loss against Frank Phillips College at Texan Classic

The Temple College men's basketball team looked to get back to winning ways on Saturday afternoon, as they took on No. 21 Frank Phillips College at the Texan Classic at South Plains College's Texan Dome in Levelland.

FPC took a lead that they never relinquished, as they upended the Leopards, 74-61.

Both teams got off to a slow start, as the defenses collapsed the shooting lanes. However, the Plainsmen began to hit from the field and took a 10-5 lead with 14:27 to go in the opening half.

Frank Phillips (8-1) opened the lead to 16 late in the first half, and led at the halftime break, 45-25.

The biggest lead for the Plainsmen was 22, on their first field goal of the second half.

Temple College (5-4) finished the game on an 11-5 run over the final five minutes.

The Leopards shot 39.7% from the field, which included 30% from behind the three-point stripe, and 9-of-19 from the free throw line.

Storm Gilchrist and Jason Ward each scored 11 points off the bench. Josh Telfort and Ovie Agbigbe each scored eight points.

The Plainsmen shot 44.1% from the field, 30% from beyond the arc, and converted 16-of-20 from the charity stripe.

Mady Traore led all scorers with 20 points, Alem Fejzic added 14, and LA Hayes added 13 off the bench.

The Leopards travel to Dallas to take on North Lake on Tuesday.
