Leopards jump out to big lead in win over Lackland, 90-71

The Temple College men's basketball team hosted Lackland on Saturday afternoon at Kirby Johnson Court.

The Leopards bolted out to an early 30-point advantage, which allowed Temple to flex their bench and give them live game action as TC upended Lackland, 90-71.

Temple led 31-11 with five minutes remaining in the first half, and pushed the advantage to 30 before Lackland scored the final four points of the half. The Leopards led after 20 minutes, 47-21.

The Leopards largest lead of the was 36 when Lackland chipped away at the margin, Lackland outscored TC over the final 9:27, 27-12. However, the hole was a deep one that Lackland could not recover from.

Temple hit five three-pointers, all in the first half, and was 24-of-40 from the free-throw line.

Josh Telfort led all scorers with 23 points, having converted 13-of-21 from the charity stripe. Jason Ward added 14 points, and Camren Roper and Storm Gilchrist each chipped in ten.

Lackland hit nine three-pointers and went 8-of-20 from the free-throw line.

Temple will host Dallas College – Cedar Valley on Thursday at 1pm.
