The Temple College Leopards men's basketball took a four-game winning streak, which included a three-game North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference winning streak, on the road to Hillsboro as they took on Hill College on Saturday afternoon.
The Leopards erased an 11-point deficit as Camren Roper's jumper with two seconds to play in regulation forced overtime, and Temple outscored the Rebels in the five-minute extra session, 6-1, to win 90-85.
Temple (15-5 overall, 4-0 NTJCAC) trailed by six points over the first 4:10 before the Leopards 12-2 run opened a four-point lead with 13:03 left in the first half.
The teams stayed close through the remainder of the half, as the Leopards led at the end of 20 minutes, 46-43.
Hill (8-11 overall, 1-2 NTJCAC) opened the second half with 23-9 run that spanned 9:25 to take a 66-55 lead.
Rasuan Collier, Jaymes Brown-Peterson, Jonty Kells, and Joel Brown began to chip away at the margin. Brown-Peterson scored 14 points down the stretch as pulled the Leopards to within one with 20.5 to go in regulation.
After a free-throw by Derrick Morris made the score 84-82 with 12.5 seconds to go, Roper hit a jumper with two seconds left to tie the game. Collier intercepted the inbound pass but could not get enough on the shot at the horn. Bob Bullock Arena sighed with relief, as the teams prepared for overtime, tied at 84-84.
Andrew Robinson hit a free-throw with 3:25 left in the extra session to give the Rebels the lead.
Brown-Peterson fed Brown with an in-paint feed, and Brown deposited the ball in basket to give the Leopards the lead with 2:54 to play. They added a Roper layup and a pair of Brown-Peterson free-throws, while holding Hill off the scoreboard to lock up the win and stay atop the NTJCAC.
Temple converted 16-of-25 from the free-throw line and drilled seven three-pointers.
Brown-Peterson led all scorers with 26 points, which included 8-of-8 from the charity stripe. Brown added 11, as 11 Leopards hit the scorebook in the game.
Hill converted 26-of-31 at the free-throw line.
Five of the six players that reached the scoresheet for the Rebels scored in double-figures, led by Kemauri Mellender's 22 points.
The Leopards will host Weatherford College on Wednesday at 7pm.
