The Temple College Leopards went into Wednesday night's game against Weatherford Coyotes on a five-game winning streak and 4-0 start to North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference play.
The Leopards suffered through a tough night from the field, at the Coyotes held the lead from start to finish as they downed Temple, 73-55.
Weatherford held the Leopards without a field goal for the first seven minutes, as Temple stayed within three points of the Coyotes with 11:58 to play in the first half.
The Coyotes extended their lead to 13 points with 4:57 in the half and held a 36-27 advantage at halftime.
Temple closed margin to seven points, 48-41, with 11:55 remaining. However, the Coyotes finished the night at a 25-14 pace to seal an 18-point win.
Weatherford converted 18-of-26 from the free-throw line and hit two three-pointers.
Adrian Shackleton scored 15 points, Tyson Whybrew added 13, Antwan Wilson chipped in 12, and Gordon Magok poured in ten.
The Leopards converted 6-of-9 free-throws and drained seven three-pointers.
Josh Telfort scored 17 points to lead all scorers. Jaymes Brown-Peterson added eight.
Temple will travel to Terrell on Saturday afternoon for a matchup at Southwestern Christian College at 4 pm.
