The Temple College men's basketball team traveled to Levelland on Friday afternoon as they faced Dallas College - North Lake in a rematch of Monday's 83-79 Temple win.
This time, the venue was South Plains Coliseum.
Temple and North Lake traded early runs before a 14-0 Leopards' run at the end of the first half was enough to hold off the Blazers, 93-81, as all five TC starters scored in double-digits.
Tayshaun Goston, Harry Bates, and Roy Gardner hit buckets in the game's first 1:13 to give Temple an 8-0 lead.
The Leopards led 15-5 when the Blazers went on a 15-2 run, with Romiel Carter doing most of the damage as North Lake led 20-17 with 10:52 to play in the first half.
At the 4:06 mark of the first half, the Blazers led 36-35 when Bates hit a jumper to start the half-ending 14-0 run. Bates added two more free-throws, Jaymes Brown-Peterson hit three jumpers and a free-throw, and Josh Telfort chipped in three free-throws during the stretch as the Leopards led at halftime, 49-36.
Temple pushed their lead out to 16 early in the second half before the Blazers slashed the margin to four points, 60-56, with 11:51 to play in regulation. The Leopards gradually pushed the leave back into double-digits over the next six minutes to reduce the chance at a North Lake comeback.
The Leopards shot 49.2% from the field, 37.5% from behind the three-point line, and shot 25-of-40 from the charity stripe.
Bates and Goston each scored 16 points, Brown-Peterson and Telfort each contributed 15, and Gardner poured in 13.
North Lake shot 46.9% from the floor, just 1-of-7 from beyond the arc, and shot 20-of-27 from the free-throw line.
Carter led all scorers with 29 points and 12 rebounds. Jordan Edwards added 13 points, and Ja'Den Stiggers scored ten.
Temple (6-2) will face No. 14 South Plains College Saturday at 2 pm.
