TC men’s basketball set for Mark Adams Classic

TC men’s basketball set for Mark Adams Classic

The Temple College men's basketball team hits the road on Thursday for a trio of challenging contests at the First Annual Mark Adams Classic, hosted by Howard College.

The games will be played at Dorothy Garrett Coliseum in Big Spring.

Temple (6-4) will face No. 3 Midland College (11-0) in the tournament's first game on Thursday afternoon at 3 pm.

The Leopards average 92.6 points per game and allow 85.3 points per tilt, with a rebounding differential of +9.4. Three of the Leopards five losses have been to ranked teams: No. 11 South Plains College, No. 14 Howard College, and No. 23 Kilgore College. One of the losses was to Dallas College - Eastfield, who received votes in the Division III Top 15 poll at the time of the defeat. 

Roy Gardner (14.0 ppg), Josh Telfort (13.3 ppg), Harry Bates, Jaymes Brown-Peterson and Jason Ward (all averaging 10.8 ppg) are the leading scorers for the Leopards.

The Chaparrals average 86.3 points per contest and give up 67.3 points per game.

Darius Carr (18.1 ppg), Antoine Bo Hurns (13.2 ppg), and Cayden Reed (8.9 ppg) are Midland's leading scorers through their first 11 games.

The Leopards will take on Western Texas College (5-5) on Friday afternoon at 3 pm.

The Westerners average 76.6 points per game and give up 72 points per contest.

Justin McCall (14.5 ppg), Isak Homelius (12.3 ppg), Calven Charles (10.2 ppg), Zayier Dean (9.2 ppg), and Anesu Dewhe (9.0 ppg) are WTC's leading point scorers.

TC will finish their tournament against No. 14 Howard College (7-1) in the finale on Saturday at 3 pm.

Howard College averages 84.6 points per game, while opponents have averaged 67.6 points per contest. The Hawks' rebounding differential is impressive at +15.5.

Terry Copeland (20.5 ppg), Daniel Culberson (13.6 ppg), Brandon Ivery (13.5 ppg), and Dace Pleasant (11.0 ppg) for the Hawks.

Following the tournament, the Leopards will have three straight home games to finish out 2025 (Strength 'N Motion on Dec. 11 and Dec. 29, Coastal Bend College on Dec. 31) and will host Ranger College in the North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference opener on Jan. 7.
