The Temple College men's basketball team, following a ten-day layoff hit the road on Saturday afternoon as they took on No. 21 McLennan Community College at The Highlands in Waco.
MCC's 12-0 run in the span of 3:47 early in the first half separated themselves from the Leopards, as they defeated Temple, 99-63.
Jaymes Brown-Peterson gave Temple (12-9 overall, 3-2 NTJCAC) their first and only lead with a three-pointer 30 seconds into the contest.
McLennan (19-1 overall, 4-0 NTJCAC) put together 12 straight points, with Amare Banks and Timi Ibikunle combining for the lot as the Highlanders led 12-3 with 14:40 left in the opening half.
MCC continued to pressure the Temple offense and closed the half on a 36-24 clip to take a 48-27 lead into the locker room.
Temple was unable to keep up with the Highlanders in the second, as MCC stacked up points and pushed their lead out to as many as 37 points.
The Leopards went 7-of-13 at the free-throw line and hit five three-pointers.
Josh Telfort led Temple with 14 points and Harry Bates added 12. Ten different Leopards scored in the game.
MCC hit nine three-pointers and converted 11-of-13 foul shots.
Banks led all scorers with 28 points for the Highlanders, with Ibikunle having contributed 18, and Avion Jackson having scored 17.
The Leopards host Southwestern Christian College on Monday at 7 pm at Kirby Johnson Court.
