The Temple College men's basketball team hosted the Grayson College Vikings on a rainy Saturday afternoon at Kirby Johnson Court.
The Leopards did not have to dodge raindrops, but they did dodge a relentless Grayson offensive attack as Temple used a 14-7 finish to defeat the Vikings, 84-74.
Temple (15-11 overall, 6-4 NTJCAC) jumped to an 8-0 lead in the first four minutes of the contest.
Grayson worked the margin to two points over the next seven minutes, which was the closest that the Vikings got as they trailed 22-20.
The Leopards finished the half on a 26-17 pace and led at the break, 48-37.
The Vikings closed the gap to within five points, 70-65, with 5:46 to play.
Temple forced multiple turnovers late and able to pull away for a ten-point win.
Roy Gardner led all scorers with 29 points. Ovie Agbigbe came off the bench to score 12, and Jaymes Brown-Peterson added 11. Ten different Leopards scored in the contest.
Caleb Alcenius led the Vikings with 24 points, and Farvens Ulysse added 22.
The Leopards will travel to Hillsboro on Wednesday to take on Hill College at the Bob Bullock Center.
