TC women’s basketball to host Coastal Bend on Tuesday

The Temple College Leopards, coming off a big 91-40 home win over Palo Alto College on Saturday, will host the Coastal Bend College Cougars on Tuesday afternoon at Kirby Johnson Court.

Tip off is slated for 5:30 pm.

The Leopards shot 35.9% from the floor, and 10-of-18 from the free-throw line, primarily due to Temple having multiple second and third chance shots early that did not fall. Temple had 70 rebounds on the day, 38 of those on the offensive side.

Once the shots starting landing through the hoop, Temple outscored the Palominos 78-23 over the final three quarters.

All 12 Leopards that suited up scored with ten of the 12 having scored six points or more, led by Kyla Clark's 13-point performance. Sy'Nariea Snow had 14 rebounds (ten offensive) and Antronea Jackson pulled down 11 boards (six offensive).

Coastal Bend traveled to take on Frank Phillips College in Borger on Saturday, and came up on the short end of a 76-42 score. The Cougars were within two points of the Lady Plainsmen at the end of the opening ten minutes, 17-15. However, FPC outscored the Cougars 59-27 over the final 30 minutes to secure the win.

The Leopards defeated Coastal Bend 89-64 when they played in Temple on Nov. 6, 2024, and 95-70 in Beeville on Dec. 4, 2024.

Jalissa King had 18 points and six rebounds to pace the Cougars. Lean Sanchez Pere added 15 points, and Jayda Mitchell had ten rebounds. Coastal shot just 21.7% from the floor, 21.9% from the behind the three-point line, 56.3% from the charity stripe, and were outrebounded 45-31.

Tuesday's game will be the last home contest for the Leopards before the Temple Classic Dec. 5-6. In that time, the Leopards will have seven road games, which includes the Tyler Junior College Classic this weekend, Angelina College in Lufkin Nov. 12, the Western Texas College Classic in Snyder Nov. 20-22, and Coastal Bend in Beeville on Dec. 3.
