The Temple College women's basketball took their talents into East Texas on Wednesday evening, as they took on the Angelina College Roadrunners.
The Leopards peeled away from the Roadrunners in the second quarter and held on to defeat Angelina, 58-46.
After a tightly-played first quarter, Temple was trailing 20-19 when Gabby Edo made two layups to start a 9-0 run to close out the half with the Leopards having led 28-20.
Temple began the second half on a 13-3 run over the first 3:20. Ranyiah Hunt nailed a pair of three-pointers, Ke'Myreul hit a three-pointer and two free throws, and Daija Mitchell made a layup to give the Leopards an 18-point lead, 41-23.
The Roadrunners finished the quarter on a 9-2 run, but trailed the Leopards at the end of the third quarter, 43-34.
TC stretched their lead out to 15 throughout points in the quarter before Angelina hit a three-pointer at the horn to take the final deficit to 12 points.
Temple shot 40.4% from the floor, was 5-of-13 from behind the three-point line, and 11-of-14 from the charity stripe.
Hunt had a career-high 18 points for the Leopards. Edo added ten points and 11 rebounds, and Wheaton and Nixon each added seven.
Angelina shot 26.2% from the floor, was 2-of-16 from the three-point line, and 10-of-17 in free throws.
Timberlyn Washington led the Roadrunners with 10 points and Iduzaye Igiehon added nine points and ten rebounds.
The Leopards will travel to Snyder to take on Western Texas College (Nov. 20, 7 pm), Howard College (Nov. 21, 11 am), and Western Gulf Collegiate (Nov. 22, 1 pm) at the WTC Classic.
