TC women’s basketball heads to Beeville for Tuesday matchup against Coastal Bend

The Temple College women's basketball team, after receiving NJCAA Top 25 poll votes for the second consecutive week, returns to action on Tuesday as they travel to Beeville to take on the Coastal Bend College Cougars.

Tip-off time is 5:30 pm from Coastal Bend College Gym.

Temple won the Nov. 4 matchup over the Cougars at Kirby Johnson Court, 83-44. 

TC had balanced scoring in the game with seven players scoring between eight and 13 points. Ke'Myreul Wheaton had a double-double, with 13 points and 15 rebounds. The Leopards outrebounded the Cougars in the game, 59-21, which included a 28-4 offensive rebound differential.

Lean Sanchez Perez led all scorers with 17 points.

The Leopards (7-1) possess a four-game win streak in which they have averaged 68.8 points per contest and gave up 53.3 points. In eight games this season, the Leopards average 70.9 points per game and allow 52 points per contest.

Temple outrebounds teams on average 50.4-25.4, a difference of nearly 2-1.

Ranyiah Hunt (12.1 ppg), Wheaton (10.4 ppg), Korina Garcia (10.3 ppg), Sy'Nariea Snow (8.2 ppg), and Gabby Edo (7.6 ppg) are the leading scorers for the Leopards.

Coastal Bend (1-8) is in a four-game losing streak after losses to McLennan (90-28), Cisco (71-62), LSU-Eunice (81-46), and Southern Arkansas University Tech (66-57).

The Cougars average 47 points per game and allow 76.6 points per game defensively. They outrebounded defensively on average, 49.2-19.6.

Sanchez Perez (8.9 ppg), Malaigha Sweats (6.2 ppg), Jalissa King (6.0 ppg), and Jayda Mitchell (4.8 ppg) are the leading scorers for Coastal Bend.

The game starts a three-game week for the Leopards. They will host the Temple Classic beginning Friday at 5 pm, with Angelina and Odessa doing battle. The Leopards will take on No. 22 Tyler Junior College at 7 pm.
