TC women’s basketball faces critical road contest at No. 8 MCC on Saturday

The Temple College women's basketball will face a pivotal road game on Saturday afternoon, as the Leopards take on No. 8 McLennan Community College at The Highlands on the MCC campus in Waco.

The North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference tilt will tip off at 2pm.

Temple (11-8 overall, 3-5 away, 1-4 NTJCAC) is coming off a 76-47 loss at Weatherford College on Wednesday, Jan. 21.

MCC (16-2 overall, 9-0 home, 4-1 NTJCAC) is coming off a 62-43 win against Hill College on Wednesday.

When the teams met in 2025, MCC swept the series with an 66-52 win at Kirby Johnson Court and 84-73 win at The Highlands.

Through 18 games, Temple averages 64.5 points per game and allows 57.2. The Leopards average 32% from the floor, 28.3% from beyond the three-point arc, and convert 63.7% at the free-throw line.

Offensively, the Leopards average 17.6 boards per game, ninth nationally. Defensively, the Leopards pull down 28.4 rebounds per game. Overall, Temple averages 46.3 rebounds per game (8th nationally), with a margin of 17.1 per game.

Temple has been in the top three nationally in team blocks per game. The Leopards are second with 7.1 blocks per game. Gabby Edo is fourth in the nation with 59 blocks.

Ranyiah Hunt (10.4 ppg), Korina Garcia (9.7 ppg), Edo (7.2 ppg), Antronea Jackson (7.2 ppg), Emori Lasalle (6.6 ppg), and Ke'myreul Wheaton (6.2 ppg).

Through 17 games, MCC has averaged 71.9 points per game and allowed 52.5 points on average. The Highlanders shoot 43.7% from the floor, 22% from behind the three-point arc, and convert 67.5% of their free-throws.

McLennan pulls down 41.9 rebounds per game to go with 16.2 assists, 9.4 steals, and 2.8 blocks per game.

Tajenae Gooden (12.6 ppg), Lanaijha Johnson (12.5 ppg), and Charnelle Hoof (11.8 ppg) are the scoring leaders for the Highlanders.

Following Saturday's game in Waco, the Leopards will host Southwestern Christian College on Monday and Cisco College on Wednesday.
