Women’s basketball heads to Hillsboro for critical matchup against Hill College

Women’s basketball heads to Hillsboro for critical matchup against Hill College

The Temple College women's basketball team faces a critical North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference road game on Wednesday afternoon, as the Leopards travel to Hillsboro to take on Hill College.

Tip-off at the Bob Bullock Sports Center is 5 pm.

Hill took the first game with a 68-61 win at Kirby Johnson Court. Kiah Goynes had 21 points off the bench, and Kamarie Hardeman added 16 points for the Rebels.

Emori Lasalle led Temple with 23 points, and Antronea Jackson added 13 off the bench.

Since that game, Temple is 4-3 and Hill is 3-4.

The Leopards are coming off back-to-back losses against a pair of nationally-ranked teams: No. 21 Collin (68-50), and No. 22 Grayson (82-57).

The Rebels have won three of their last four, which includes an 84-79 win over Weatherford on Saturday.

Temple (15-10 overall, 5-6 NTJCAC) has averaged 62.9 points per game and have allotted 57.6 per contest on average. The Leopards average 31.8% from the floor, 27.6% from beyond the arc, and 61.7% at the free-throw line.

Hill (14-10 overall, 5-5 NTJCAC) has averaged 70.6 points per game and has yielded 64.9 points per matchup. The Rebels average 35.8% from the field, 30.1% from behind the three-point arc, and coverts 63.5% from the charity stripe.

What a win means for the Leopards: With five games remaining, the Leopards are in fifth place, one-half game behind Hill for the final playoff spot. A win for Temple would leapfrog the Leopards over Hill back into fourth place by a half-game and stay within range of MCC for third place.

What a loss does for Temple: A Temple loss would drop the Leopards a game-and-a-half behind Hill for the final playoff spot, and into a potential fifth-place tie with Weatherford and Ranger. Also on Wednesday, the Coyotes host Southwestern Christian College and Ranger hosts MCC.
