Garcia named to All-NTJCAC Team, three garner All-Conference honorable mentions

Garcia named to All-NTJCAC Team, three garner All-Conference honorable mentions

The 2025-2026 North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference teams were voted on and announced at the conference meeting on Monday afternoon.

Freshman point guard Korina Garcia was named to the NTJCAC All-Conference team. The former Converse Judson standout played in all 16 conference games for the Leopards. Garcia average 10.7 points per game, shot 27.9% from the field (61-of-219), 26.8% from beyond the arc (22-of-82), and 71.1% of her free throws (27-of-38). She accumulated 67 assists, 41 steals, 38 rebounds, and six blocks. She had a career-high 29 points for the Leopards in Temple's 114-111 triple overtime win over Southwestern Christian College in Terrell on Feb. 25.

In 30 games overall, Garcia averaged 10.3 points, had 131 assists, 74 steals, and 11 blocks, while she registered 29.3% from the field (109-of-372), 25% from behind the three-point line (34-of-136), and converted 69.1% of her free-throws (56-of-81).

All-NTJCAC Honorable Mentions included center Gabby Edo, forward Daija Mitchell, and guard Emori LaSalle.

A sophomore from Austin, Edo played in all 16 conference games, averaged 7.3 points, shot 41.9% from the field (49-of-117), 33.3% from beyond the arc (1-of-3), and converted 56.3% of her free-throws (18-of-32). Edo was a force in the paint, having pulled down 147 rebounds (9.2 per game), blocked 35 shots, had 21 assists, and 11 steals. Edo scored 18 points and pulled down 17 rebounds in Temple's 86-72 win on Feb. 2.

In 30 games, Edo averaged 7.5 points, shot 39.3% from the field (49-of-117), 20% from behind the three-point line (1-of-5), and 64.2% from the free-throw line (43-of-67). Edo was sixth in the nation in blocks (83) and seventh in the nation with 3.9 blocks per game. Edo also had 301 rebounds (119 offensive), 40 assists, and 23 steals. Edo also had 28 rebounds, which included 15 offensive boards, on Dec. 2 at Tyler Junior College. She also had a ten-block game against National Park College on Nov. 7.

A sophomore from Killeen, Mitchell played in all 16 conference games, averaged 5.4 points per game, shot 33.7% from the field (29-of-86) and converted 58% percent from the charity stripe (29-of-50). Mitchell pulled down 138 rebounds, had 26 assists, 26 steals, and 14 blocks. Her conference-high point total was 14 against Southwestern Christian College on Feb. 25.

In 30 total games, Mitchell averaged 5.9 points per game, shot 33% from the field (59-of-179), was 1-of-14 from behind the three-point line, and converted 57% of her free-throw opportunities (57-of-100). Mitchell had 285 rebounds, which included 100 offensive boards, 49 assists, 44 steals, and 26 blocks.

A sophomore from Crosby, LaSalle played in all 16 conference games, averaged a team-high 13.8 points per game, shot 35.9% from the field (78-of-217), 36.5% from behind the three-point line (38-of-104), and was successful on 63.4% of her free-throws (26-of-41). LaSalle had 73 rebounds, 39 assists, 23 steals and ten blocks in conference play. LaSalle scored 20-plus points four times, with a season-high 24 points at Cisco on March 7.

In 26 overall games, LaSalle averaged 9.8 points, 36.7% from the field (92-of-251), 35.2% from beyond the arc (43-of-122), and 60% from the charity stripe (27-of-45), hauled in 87 rebounds, had 43 assists, 28 steals, and 12 blocks.

Temple went 7-9 in conference play and 17-13 overall.
