The Temple College Leopard volleyball team earned their first win of the 2016 season tonight against Midland College at the Tyler Junior College Tournament. Leopards fought to go ahead in the first set 29-27 followed by wins of 25-10 and 25-19 to take the match in three straight sets. Sophomore Alysia Espada led the way for all Leopards with 12 kills and 9 digs. Freshman Abigail Royall also chipped in with 9 digs.
The Leopards then fell to 12th ranked Salt Lake 23-25, 22-25, 19-25 in the second match of the night. Freshman Hannah Smyers pounded out 10 kills and Royall had another impressive defensive outing with 9 digs.
The Leopards will face 14th ranked Panola and 17th ranked Wharton tomorrow to close out the Tyler Junior College tournament.
