TC Volleyball falls to DC North Lake in another grueling five-game contest

The Temple College Leopards and Dallas College North Lake Blazers had another grueling five-game match, this time on Thursday evening in Irving.

The Blazers battled from 2-1 down to force a fifth game and outlasted the Leopards, 3-2.

Scores of the match were 12-25, 26-24, 22-25, 25-22, and 15-11.

The teams went five games on Monday at Kirby Johnson Court, when the Leopards rallied from two games down to win 3-2.

Temple (3-4) began the match with a 9-2 run, powered on kills by Grace Schneider, Karlee Williamson, and Yasmine Traore.

The Leopards held off any momentum the Blazers had in the opening game and took the opener by 13 points.

North Lake (2-1) answered the bell in game two with a 6-2 start before TC's 7-3 stretch tied the game at 9-9.

The game seesawed back and forth before Temple took control and had game point at 24-22. However, the Blazers scored four straight points to capture game two by the two-point minimum.

In the third game, Temple jumped out to a 10-5 lead. The Blazers scored eight straight points to take a 13-10 lead. The Leopards got mid-game kills from Sarah Rodriguez and Kharma Brown to put wind in the TC sails down the stretch, as the Leopards took game three by three points.

Game four was another seesaw affair when the Blazers took control with a five-point run mid set and captured game four by three points to force a fifth and deciding game.

Temple was unable to grab a lead in the fifth game, although the game was tied five times. North Lake grabbed the lead for good at 8-7, and the Leopards valiantly battled but wound up four points short at the finish.

The Leopards will head to Richardson on Friday morning for the DC Richland Tournament. At 10 am, the Leopards will take on Richland, and at 11:30 am will play Coffeyville Community College. Saturday, Temple plays Independence Community College at 8 am, and Dallas College Eastfield at 11 am.
