TC Volleyball faces tough test at No. 3 Weatherford College

The Temple College Leopards will face No. 3 Weatherford College at the Betty Graber Gymnasium Saturday at 1 pm in Weatherford.

In 2024, the Coyotes took both matches, each by 3-0 scores.

The Leopards are coming off a convincing 3-0 sweep of Southwestern Christian College Wednesday evening at Kirby Johnson Court. Scores of the match were 25-14, 25-14, and 25-12.

Yasmine Traore had 12 kills and four digs. Kharma Brown had nine kills, and seven digs. Abbie Soileau logged 21 assists, Karlee Williamson added 15 helpers, and Hanna Ward contributed 15 digs, six aces, and four assists.

The win broke a seven-game losing streak for the Leopards, improved their North Texas Junior Collegiate Athletic Conference record to 1-6, and improved their overall record to 7-13.

Temple averages 12.39 digs, 8.89 kills, 8.48 assists, 3.19 blocks, and 1.7 aces per game.

Weatherford won a key road test at Vernon College with a sweep of the Vikings. Scores of the contest were 25-10, 25-18, and 25-17.

Gabriella Maldonado had 16 kills, Beline Thibaut added nine, and Weronika Urbanska contributed eight kills. Victoria Sanchez and Ally McCabe each had 16 assists, and Kiana Souza added 12 digs.

The Coyotes sit atop the NTJCAC at 7-0 and 18-2 overall. Their losses were in consecutive days in Melbourne, Fla., against No. 1 Florida Southwestern State College (25-13, 25-17, 25-19) and No. 2 Miami Dade College (25-21, 25-20, 28-26).

Since the two losses, the Coyotes have won six straight matches, having won all 18 sets by an average of 11.2 points per game.

Weatherford averages 15.27 digs, 13.53 kills, 12.27 assists, 2.71 service aces, and 2.55 blocks per game.

Temple's home matchup against Vernon College on Wednesday will mark the end of the first half of the NTJCAC schedule.
