The Temple College Leopards will conclude the first half of their North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference schedule on Wednesday evening, as they host the Vernon College Chaparrals at Kirby Johnson Court.
First serve is at 6 pm. Tony Adams will have the Leopards Live pregame show at 5:50 pm.
Temple (7-14 overall, 1-6 NTJCAC) played Vernon (11-6 overall, 5-3 overall) in a non-conference match at the Western Texas College Classic in Snyder on Aug. 23. It was a matchup where Temple came off a hard-fought, three-set win over Dallas College Cedar Valley (25-19, 25-21, 25-22). However, Vernon was fresh, came out quick, and swept the Leopards. Scores of the match were 25-11, 25-11, and 25-12.
Grace Schneider had four attacks, Abbie Soileau contributed nine assists and seven blocks in lead the way for the Leopards.
Iyanha Hibbler had nine kills and five digs to pace Vernon. Trinity Williams added eight kills, Chloey Dress chipped in 11 assists, and Karina Perez contributed 11 digs.
Milestone watch
Sophomore middle blocker Lana Wright reached the 200-kill plateau against Weatherford. Wright is currently at 500 attacks for her career. She hit 100 career blocks at Hill, and is eight digs away from 100 for her career.
Freshman setter Karlee Williamson hit the 300-assist mark against Southwestern Christian.
Freshman outside hitter Sarah Rodriguez hit the 100-dig mark against Hill College.
With six more digs, freshman libero Hanna Ward will reach the 250-dig mark for her career.
Freshman outside hitter/middle blocker Yasmine Traore has played 21 games and is 29 kills away from 200 for her career. She is also 37 kills away from matching last year's team leader for kills, Mia Dunaway, who had 208 in 32 games. Traore is also 19 attacks away from 500 for her career.
Freshman setter Abbie Soileau hit the 250-assist mark for her career Saturday in Weatherford.
