The Leopards Athletic Report (Week of Sept. 30-Oct. 5)

The Leopards Athletic Report (Week of Sept. 30-Oct. 5)

If you have ventured over toward the east side of the Temple College campus over the past week, you may have noticed more vehicles and less Leopards team buses in the lot by the Danny J. Scott Athletic Complex.

That's right, folks. A good deal of Temple College Athletics action was going on, not only on campus but away from it as well.

All five TC programs were in action, with volleyball in conference play, men's and women's basketball in preseason action, and baseball and softball in fall ball road contests.

Here is a look back at last week's action and a short preview of this week's activity in Temple College Athletics:

Volleyball faced two tough conference rivals

The Temple College Volleyball team played its first two games of a three-game, North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference homestand a Kirby Johnson Court this past week.

On Wednesday, the Leopards faced Vernon College to wrap up the first half of conference play.

The Leopards played hard and had good communication throughout the contest. However, the Chaparral took advantage of untimely errors to edge Temple, 3-1. Scores of the match we 25-23, 20-25, 25-18, and 25-19.

Karlee Williamson had a double-double in the effort, was 16 assists and 14 digs. Grace Schneider had 13 kills, Kharma Brown added nine kills, and Lana Wright contributed seven kills. Abbie Soileau had 25 assists, Hanna Ward chipped in 17 digs and eight assists, and Sarah Rodriguez had 11 digs.

On Saturday, the Leopards held their annual Pink Out Game against Collin County Community College to begin their second half of the conference schedule.

In another match where the action went fast and furious, the Cougars emerged with a 3-1 win over the Leopards. Scores of the match were 21-25, 25-22, 25-16, and 25-22.
