TC Volleyball hosts No. 2 Weatherford College on Wednesday

TC Volleyball hosts No. 2 Weatherford College on Wednesday

The Temple College Leopards will host Weatherford College in North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference action on Wednesday at Kirby Johnson Court.

First serve is slated for 6 pm.

The Leopards are coming off a 3-0 winning sweep over Southwestern Christian College on Saturday in Terrell. TC trailed just once in the match, which was early in the third game, and dominated throughout the contest.

Weatherford, second-ranked in the National Junior College Athletic Association's latest Top 25 Poll, is coming off a three-game sweep of Vernon College at Graber Center on Saturday, all games by a 25-11 score.

Mirabel Onyegwu had 11 kills, Weronika Urbanska and Rayna Dinsmore each added seven kills, Beline Thibaut had 13 digs, and Ally McCabe logged 24 assists.

When Temple took on Weatherford at Graber Center on Sept. 27, the Coyotes swept the Leopards. The scores of the contest were 25-12, 25-16, and 25-14.

Urbanska had nine kills, Alena Lopez had nine digs, and Victoria Sanchez had 17 assists.

Yasmine Traore had eight kills, Abbie Soileau had 18 assists and two aces, and three Leopards had three kills each.

No Wednesday scoreboard watching…but, then again…

With Weatherford having locked up the NTJCAC regular season title and the top North seed in next week's Region V Playoffs at Graber Center and Temple out of the playoffs, the teams will not be looking Wednesday's NTJCAC out-of-town scoreboard.

Or will they?

Heading into Wednesday, Weatherford is 16-0, Hill College is second at 12-4, Vernon College and Ranger College are tied for third at 10-6, McLennan Community College sits at 9-7 in fifth place, and Cisco College is in sixth at 8-8.

Temple's season-ending match at Vernon College Saturday could carry serious playoff ramifications for the Chaparrals. The Leopards could very well be in a position to shuffle the North's lower seedings pending Wednesday's and Saturday's results.

Should both Vernon and Ranger win and MCC downs Hill in Hillsboro, Saturday's final conference day could produce high drama.

On Saturday, NCTC is at Hill, MCC plays at SWCC, Weatherford hosts Cisco, and Collin plays at Ranger.
