The No.22 Temple College Leopards softball team completed their weekend series on Sunday with an early contest against No. 6 Odessa College and noon matchup against Luna Community College.
The Leopards came from behind twice against the Wranglers before an extra inning was forced and Riley Cassidy's two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth gave Odessa a 3-2 win and sweep of the Temple-Odessa series at Wrangler Field.
Angie DeLeon's first homer of the season cleared the left field wall to start the fourth inning and gave Temple a 1-0 lead.
Kayla Hernandez's RBI single tied the game at 1-1, and Hernandez scored on a wild pitch to put Odessa up 2-1.
Myah Starks tripled to start the fifth inning, and courtesy runner Brooklyn Walton scored on Lexi Dudeczka's single to tie the game at 2-2.
Reese Cottrell doubled home Kaiyah Ratu in the top of the seventh inning with two outs to put the Leopards within three outs of a split.
However, an error landed Jaycie Pacheco at second base with one out. Tyra Martin doubled home Pacheco to tie the game at 3-3 and force an extra inning.
Cassidy's two-run homer came with one out in the eighth, as it drove home she and Angelique Iredale to capture the win.
Temple clubbed 12 hits, led by Cottrell, Dudeczka, and Ryley Litchfield with two hits each.
Kat Kram went the distance for the Leopards, as she allowed five runs (four earned) on five hits, struck out 11, walked three, and hit a batter.
The Leopards came from behind early against Luna, having erased a two-run deficit with four runs in the bottom of the first, and seven runs in the second to down Luna in five innings, 19-6, to pick up the series sweep of the Rough Riders.
After a two-run homer by K Renteria put the Rough Riders on top in the upper part of the first, TC answered with four runs in the bottom of the frame. Litchfield scored on an error, and Izzy Garcia crushed a three which gave Temple a 4-2 lead.
Brooklyn Walton's RBI single, Litchfield's two-run single, Myah Starks' three-run homer, and Garcia's solo homer gave Temple an 11-2 advantage.
The Leopards posted six more runs in the third inning. A sacrifice fly by Maddi Durnell, RBI single by KyLeigh Cambiano, bases-clearing triple by Autumn Simmons, and Giselle Salazar's RBI single increased Temple's advantage to 17-2 after three innings.
A two-run triple by Luna cut into the margin in the top of the fourth.
Marli Kennedy's sacrifice fly and RBI single by Cambiano put Temple on the board again in the bottom of the fourth.
Luna scored four runs in the bottom of the fifth, but the Rough Riders were unable to push the game out of run-rule.
Temple had a season-high 19 hits, with Cambiano, Kennedy, Garcia, Walton, and Durnell each with two hits. Garcia drove in four runs, Starks and Simmons drove in three apiece, and Cambiano and Litchfield both drove in a pair.
Garcia picked up the win in the circle. She pitched four innings, allowed four runs on two hits, struck out seven and walked two. Dalanee Eckster pitched an inning, allowed two runs on three hits and struck out one.
The Leopards will travel to Houston on Tuesday to take on San Jacinto College-South.
