No. 8 TC Softball heads back to conference play Wednesday at Cisco

The Temple College softball team heads back into North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference play on Wednesday as they travel to take on Cisco College.

Doubleheader game times are scheduled for 1 pm and 3 pm.

Having a conference bye week and a canceled doubleheader, the Leopards have not played a game since March 14, when they swept North Central Texas College in Gainesville.

Temple (24-4 overall, NJCAA Division I No. 8, 4-0 NTJCAC) is currently on a 12-game winning streak and has won 19 of their last 21 games. They have outscored teams during last 12 games, 104-11, with eight shutouts. Overall, the Leopards are hitting .397 and have an on-base percentage of .456, clubbed 25 homers, driven in 206 runs, scored 235 times on 298 hits, crushed 58 doubles and 18 triples. The Leopards have also drawn 76 walks, been hit by 19 pitches, and stolen 106 bases. Six Leopards have ten stolen bases or more, with Marli Kennedy leading the way with 17.

Izzy Garcia (.519 BA, .568 OBP, three homers, 15 RBI), Reese Cottrell (.494 BA, .526 OBP, four HR, 37 runs batted in, 16 doubles), Lexi Dudeczka (.484 BA, .524 OBP, HR, 20 RBI, 37 runs scored), Brooklyn Walton (.410 BA, .424 OBP, HR, 13 runs batted in), and Jasmine Benavidez (.405 BA, .490 OBP, four HR, 30 RBI) are among the leaders offensively for Temple.

The Leopards' staff earned run average is down to 2.32, a full run better than before the win streak. During the team's current 12-game win streak, the Leopards have committed just two errors and 15 total errors on 672 total chances on the season for a fielding percentage of .978. That have led to one unearned run allowed during the streak and 13 total for the season. Over the last 73 innings, the Leopards have allowed just ten earned runs.

Izzy Garcia (11-1, 1.86 ERA, four shutouts, 92 strikeouts, 21 walks, .155 opponent's batting average), Cottrell (5-1, 2.35 ERA, 24 strikeouts, 14 walks, .191 OBA), Dalanee Ekster (2-0, 2.63 ERA, eight strikeouts, seven walks), and Kat Kram (6-2, 2.93 ERA, two shutouts 50 strikeouts, 14 walks) has been a solid pitching corps that has been consistent and has kept teams off balanced over the course of the past month.

Cisco (15-17 overall, 3-5 NTJCAC) is hitting .349 with an on-base percentage of .414 through 32 games. They are coming off a series split against North Central Texas College, winning games 6-5 and 3-1, and dropping games 7-1 and 9-1.

The Wranglers have ten home runs, 159 RBI, have scored 177 runs on 261 hits, 59 double, nine triples, 84 walks, and have stolen 53 bases.

Mikayla Pruitt (.466 BA, .523 OBP, eight RBI, 11 stolen bases), Katlyn Clark (.419 BA, .439 OBP, 23 RBI), Emily Turner (.395 BA, .442 OBP, five HR, 28 RBI), and Leah Sommerville (.385 BA, .522 OBP, HR, 15 RBI, ten doubles, 15 stolen bases) are among the offensive leaders for Cisco.

The Wranglers staff earned run average is 6.68 with the defense having committed 65 errors in 719 total chances (.910 fielding percentage). Cisco's staff have allowed 220 runs (165 earned) on 263 hits, struck out 103 batters and walked 99.

Natalie Gonzales (8-5, 2.31 ERA, 55 strikeouts, 30 walks), Cierra Turner (2-5, 10.61 ERA, 18 strikeouts, 22 walks), and Cheyenne Wardell (1-5, 11.20 ERA, 17 strikeouts, 12 walks) having garnered the majority of the workload.
